General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs has introduced many innovative practices to boost its efficiency.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has processed 59 million transactions since the beginning of 2015. The authority issued 12 million visas during this period.
Major-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the GDRFA-Dubai, said 42 million passengers passed through the Dubai borders from January 1, 2015, till November.
Maj-Gen Al Marri said the authority has introduced many innovative practices, which have boosted efficiency. These include giving flexible hours for female employees to work and also letting them work from home. GDRFA-Dubai also offers services to the elderly by visiting them at their homes.
He was speaking at the Rims (Risk Management Society) Risk Forum 2015 in Dubai.
Maj-Gen Obaid Mohair bin Surour, Deputy Director of the GDRFA-Dubai, said conferences such as the risk forum help spread awareness about workplace risks. Lack of knowledge among employees, he said, affects their effectiveness in dealing with such risks.
Mary Roth, executive director of the US-based Rims, said the Rims was holding the conference for the first time in the Middle East. This, she said, is part of its efforts to strengthen and support its international network of risk professionals. She said the two-day educational and networking conference provides attendees with an update on the Middle East's insurance market and will explore practical solutions to help advance organisations' risk management strategies. - Wam
